2018 Freedom Fund Awards Banquet – NAACP El Paso Branch

Hello NAACP and Friends,

The 2018 “Event of the Year” is upon us!!  The 2018 NAACP Banquet is scheduled for Saturday evening, 25 August 2018 at the El Paso Marriott Hotel, 1600 Airway Boulevard, El Paso, Texas  79925.  It promises to be a phenomenal  event featuring a well-informed, well-versed Guest Speaker. Mr. Will Guzman, Ph.D serves as the Director of the Africana Studies Center and Associate Professor of African and African-American Studies at New Jersey City University.  He is the author of “Civil Rights in the Texas Borderlands; Dr. Lawrence A. Nixon and Black Activism“.  We also have a fantastic local Mistress of Ceremonies. Some highlights of the evening includes: Community Service Award, Humanitarian Award, President’s Award, & (2) Scholarship recipients.

This year’s addition to the banquet will feature a special recognition of three prominent citizens of El Paso (past and present).  Former City Councilman Carl Robinson developed a Wall of Fame to honor these movers and shakers.  This year’s honorees are: James Crouch, Jethro Hills, and C.S. “Dusty” Rhodes. Let’s celebrate their achievements with their families and friends.

Our branch, Unit 6175 cordially invites you to join us in harmony at this end of the summer community affair.  Tickets are now available, please make plans to secure your seat and help spread the word.  Review the attached flier for more information.
