Greetings, El Paso:
Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. 2Timothy 1:6
My name is Michael E. Grady, President of the NAACP EL PASO BRANCH #6175. Once again, I have been called upon to stand on the shoulders of past presidents and leaders who have forged the way, “for such a time as this.”
This season calls for courage, consistency, and commitment to unite our city in “one” common goal. That goal is to ensure that the rights of all citizens are protected, and that each person receives due process to eliminate race-based discrimination.
My goals as we begin Our journey consists of commitment of inclusiveness and unity. “Revive-Revisit Restore-Refocus”
Revive the desire to be part of the solution and not the problem while cultivating the hearts and minds of our youth and young adults with hope.
Revisit the means by which we engage our community by advancing an agenda of inclusion, brotherhood, and unity. By ensuring that access to information, leadership, and opportunities to serve this branch are available to all.
Restore credibility by insuring that all requests for assistance are responded to quickly and decisively with courtesy and professionalism. This includes challenging civil, religious, social, and community leaders to connect to the NAACP, and bring not only their heads, but their hearts and healing hands in order to model in the community, a sense of working toward commonality of purpose.
Refocus our attention towards the least, lost, left out, and forgotten, and away from selfish ambitions, which benefit no one. To be the consciousness of our city and to hold accountable all who would attempt to hinder, destroy, or ignore the political, educational, social, economic rights of all persons.
Michael E. Grady
